My 53 Day Goal

Image
Today is the November 7th 2018, and I have exactly 53 days until 2019 to accomplish any goals I have left before the end of this year. I don't feel like I've been neglecting my goals this year, but I definitely can use this time-crunch as motivation to kick it into high gear. So whats going on in Raven's life right now? My internship ends in a week My LAST class for my Bachelors degree ends in December I just revamped resume I just made a professional reference What am I trying to accomplish before the end of 2019 Share everything I've done in 2018  Apply for jobs in my field for 2019 Look for a seasonal job to help with my shopping and travel addiction I KNOW I KNOW, this is a piss-poor excuse for a list but I'm 4 days free of social media and its all coming to me. I want to be as productive with my time as possible and these social media break reminds me of everything I've been neglecting.... like this blog. I want to use this blog to

So You're Finally 25

Image
A few weeks ago was my 25th birthday and I wasn't sure how I felt about it. I'm technically single so I wasn't expecting bells and whistles but I wanted to feel special on my milestone day. In the beginning of October, I told myself that I was participating in the #selflove movement. You know...take the day off, buy yourself flowers, spa day with the friends, buy that makeup palette you'll been staring at for the past few months. I even took a hiking trip to the west coast and lived lavishly for the weekend at a high end resort. I was probably living the dream for social media but deep down inside, was I happy? A week later, I deactivated my Instagram account to find time to reflect on my definition of #selflove. I scrolled through my mini vacation picture and found myself mesmerized by this picture. The picture of my 12 dollar tulips I bought for myself. What is the meaning of selflove and how does one achieve it? Hopefully I find myself one-step closer to that answe

Mini Vaca to Clearwater

Image
I recently just got back from a mini vacation with my family in Clearwater outside of Tampa. Before I begin to boast about how nice it was, I'll explain why I chose Clearwater. I was treating my grandmother and a family member to a mini vacation so I wanted something that wasn't filled with children or drunk young adults. Clearwater was the perfect mixture of age groups. We stayed at the Hilton Clearwater resort which had a balcony overlooking the harbor and beach front. The beach as literally outside the pool area of the hotel. While the beach chairs cost to rent, you could just buy something from the bar and sit at the tables closest to the pool or bring your beach towels close to the shore and settle in the sand. The beach is very spread out and not crowded unlike South Beach and there's a bunch of mom and pop restaurants and shops right outside the hotel. While everything is walking distance, there's also a trolley that will take you from North Beach to South

Our trip to Uvita, Costa Rica

Image
Since I'm new to the blog life, I might do a little recap on my past experiences. Last summer, I did study abroad in Costa Rica and had the opportunity to explore on our downtime. Some girls and I went to Uvita, Costa Rica. While we had A LOTTT of mishaps just trying to get to this place, we did eventually make it and it was beautiful. This area has a lot of expats but its a underdeveloped beach town. It's a little more expensive because it is a little more Americanized but most of the Pacific Coast is. If you want something a little more ethnic, I heard the Caribbean Coast is the best place for it. I personally didn't have the opportunity to go since we were traveling locally and mainly underdeveloped but if you have transportation, I'm sure its worth it. The best experience about being on the Pacific Coast was watching the sunset. It's definitely something I wouldn't trade for the world.     Pura Vida

It feels like you finally made it at the Top of the Rock.

Brooklyn vs. Manhattan

Image
Unlike most college students, I decided to stay up north for spring break and avoid the crowds in Florida. While I can go on and on about my experience getting stuck in a blizzard for spring break, I rather share the good times. So, should you stay in Brooklyn or Manhattan? When I travel, I try to blend in as much as possible and I definitely believe that I accomplished that in Brooklyn.  The last time I stayed in Manhattan, I was in the Tribeca neighborhood. Don't get me wrong, I love Manhattan but I definitely feel like lower Manhattan isn't for people who like to sleep at night. Construction, garbage pickup all at 1am in the morning. The closest subway was a 12 minute walk. Of course there's hotels closer but I was at the  CONRAD!!! ...It was worth the walk. Brooklyn on the other hand, has a different type of energy. When I looked out the window of my hotel, I saw green spaces between builds and the sun and the sky. Just walking to DUMBO was an experience. The subway was

How to Travel on a Student Budget

Image
Amongst all my family and friends, I'm the local travel agent. While I do love the luxury of traveling, i also enjoy the stress on planning a trip. While there's plenty of ways to save while planning a trip and many of them you might already be familiar with; these are my personally "GO-TO's" when I'm planning a mini vacation on a student budget. USE GOOGLE. Especially if you have an android or use Google Chrome. If I'm flying, i always look at the charts, and data calendar to see when is the best times to travel. You can also set updates to alert you when the price changes. Become a Member. For the longest time, i was a die-hard Expedia user. I booked all my flights through them and earned points for it. Unlike Hotels, you can double on points if you're an member with that travel site and earn point through the airline. The pro and con of 3rd party travel sites is, you don't see all the available flights . If you're in need of a flight r
